The FCC fined Missouri based firm LocateCell $97,500 this week [0] for failing to provide information about the company's activities. The state's Attorney General shut down the firm, accused of illegally selling cell phone records, in January 2006.

How does the turn around time work?
All seaches are usually completed withing 1 to 4 hours. This only applies to orders place between 8am and 5pm EST during business days (Mon - Fri). All orders placed after 5pm or on Saturday or Sunday will be completed the following business day usually no later than 12pm. A few number of searches can be more difficult than others and require more time, in this event the search may take a little longer. Turn around time is not a guarantee, only a best estimate. We will not provide a refund if a result is sent outside this turn around time window.
Can I mail or fax in my payment or credit card?
Yes. Choose the "Fax/Mail" option on the checkout and proceed to complete the order. A printable order form will be generated. Print out the order form and fax or mail ith payment instrument or card number and authorized signature and e will begin processing your order.
Can I send you the information to search, then pay you once you have indicated the information has been found?
No. Our searches take up researchers valuable time. We will not begin a search unless payment is guaranteed whether via a credit card authorization or payment instrument in hand.
Do I have to pay if there are no results?
No. We only process payments after results have been located and sent. If we can not find your results, the search is free of charge.
What does "No Hit" mean?
No Hit means we were unable to locate your results and the search has process has been completed.
Can you find people with only the first name?
No. We do not spend our time trying to track down "John" in New York, NY. We must have a First and Last name.
You stated my card would not be charged if no results are found. I used my debit check card.
We only take credit authorizations, or a freeze for the specified amount. If you are using a debit check card, the banks will report it as a charge on your statement and hold the money for 5-10 days. If we do not accept the charge, the funds will be returned to your checking account by your bank. If you need faster return of funds, you can request us to accept the charge, then credit the funds back to the account. This will release the funds faster. Please contact your bank for their specific debit authorization policies.
